Sketchbook Tour Part 2

This is the second part of my waterocolour sketchbook tour! The images painted in this section were painted throughout the month of April 2020. With the coronavirus spreading around the world and becoming a pandemic, South Africa declared a state of emergency and went into one of the most strict lockdowns in the world. Luckily I managed to get to my family home in time. Still, with university classes suspended for the time being and nowhere to go, the mind tends to get extremely bored. So I turned to my art for comfort and stimulation. I have made three times as many artworks in this month that I have in any other month before! I am stretching my creative muscles and trying different styles and concepts. The patterned animals were inspired by the Disney movie Moana where the patterns used by the Maori people played center stage. Other images like the smile simply came from looking in the mirror and admiring my own smile. This shows that inspiration can come from anywhere! You must simply act when it hits you!
